Batteries or Rechargeable?

An article by Rachel Levy, hearing aid specialist — Audition Solution, Ville Saint-Laurent.

It's one of the first choices when getting fitted: disposable-battery devices or rechargeable ones? Neither is “better” in the absolute — it depends on your daily life. The honest comparison.

Rechargeable: everyday simplicity

Place your devices in their charger at night, put them on in the morning: no batteries to buy, store or handle — a real plus for less agile fingers. A full charge covers a long day, streaming included; travel chargers hold several extra charges for weekends away. To consider: dependence on charging (forget one night and you improvise) and battery aging after several years, manageable through maintenance.

Batteries: autonomy without an outlet

Zinc-air batteries (sizes 10, 312, 13, 675) offer 3 to 15 days of autonomy depending on the device and usage. Strengths: instant “recharging” anywhere — you change the battery and off you go, ideal for travel or remote areas — and often a slightly lower purchase price. To consider: regular handling of small parts, keeping a stock, and remembering to carry spares. All formats are available at the clinic.

Our quick decision grid

  • Choose rechargeable if: you value simplicity, your evenings follow a routine, dexterity is a concern, or you stream heavily.
  • Choose batteries if: you travel far from outlets, want maximum flexibility, or prefer changing a battery in ten seconds to planning a charge.

Undecided? Come handle both at the clinic — trying the charger and the battery door with your own hands often settles it in two minutes. Book an appointment.
